Start Studio is the husband-and-wife team of David Schmitzer and Heather Talley.

Rather than the typical caricature work, David draws live, on-the-spot, portraits. This is something rarely seen at festivals due the fact that most artists cannot create a portrait quickly enough.

David began working the festival loop in 2007 and Heather joined him later creating bespoke handstamped rings.

A thirst for travel and adventure has led these two artists to live a vagabond lifestyle. Roaming the country from festival to festival, Heather and David love to squeeze in an awe-inspiring hike, go gallery hoping, or work on creating their own artwork when they are in-between events. Hands down, their favorite adventures are those moments spent with their delightful granddaughter.

David has a BFA in Fine Art from Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus, Ohio. Heather has a BA in Studio Art/Photography from Hollins University, Roanoke, Virginia.
